The Black Hills Ski Team is dedicated to providing our youth with the opportunity to develop all-mountain skiing ability and racing skills in a positive, competitive, fun and safe environment. The team is comprised of boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18 whose skiing ability range from beginner to advanced. Prior race experience is not required.
Team coaches include men and women with a passion for skiing and an eagerness to help the kids succeed – not only in ski racing, but in a wide variety of ski-related activities. Through guided free-skiing sessions and racing drills, coaches focus on strengthening fundamentals as well as developing race techniques and tactics. Individualized instruction is provided to assist each athlete in becoming a strong alpine competitor and well-rounded skier. Kids of all ages have the opportunity to compete in slalom, giant slalom and kombi competitions at Terry Peak Ski Area, as well as USSA-sanctioned races across Montana.
The Black Hills Ski Team is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2010 and governed by a volunteer board of directors. Our coaches work with young athletes to sharpen their skiing skills while encouraging good sportsmanship in a fun and competitive environment. We are a U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) Northern Division registered alpine ski team abiding by International Ski Federation (FIS) rules and regulations. Our officials and our coaches are certified through the USSA and some are members of the Professional Ski Instructors Association (PSIA).
