Registration is open for the 2018-2019 season! All athletes are required to have their own equipment along with a season pass for Terry Peak, and a current USSA membership (see USSA online registration instructions here). Each athlete must complete the Black Hills Ski Team registration documents every season. This can be done by downloading the registration forms below and returning them, along with member fees, to us via e-mail, in person, or snail mail.
As our team grows, so does our need for skilled coaches and volunteers. If you are interested in coaching, you will be required to hold a current USSA Alpine Coach membership, which requires a background check and passing the USSA Level 100 Course. More information can be found on the alpine programs/coaches page of the US Ski Team website.
Trained officials are needed to assist with Black Hills Ski Team races at Terry Peak. Please see the officials/certification page of the US Ski Team website for more information. If interested, please contact our head coach, Rick McGrath.
Volunteers are not required to be USSA members, have any special training, or even be able to ski. We rely on volunteers for a variety of tasks, such as fund raising, sponsor identification, special events, and many others.
U14 and above athletes who compete in USSA sanctioned races must use equipment that meets FIS specifications. Race helmets must meet Alpine Helmet Regulations. In addition to having hard ear cover, race helmets must have this decal (CE mark).
All Black Hills Ski Team racers should have helmets with hard-sided ears. It is recommended that racers ski on skis that are race or all-mountain skis. Wide powder skis are not recommended. For more information on choosing the right skis, please see the Skis.com Buying Guide
